{"id":68264,"date":"2025-06-17T05:33:22","date_gmt":"2025-06-17T05:33:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=68264"},"modified":"2025-06-17T05:33:22","modified_gmt":"2025-06-17T05:33:22","slug":"naca-acci-empower-40-young-nigerians-in-abuja","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/06\/17\/naca-acci-empower-40-young-nigerians-in-abuja\/","title":{"rendered":"NACA, ACCI Empower 40 young Nigerians in Abuja"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Samuel Adeola<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA), in collaboration with the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), has launched a five-day digital empowerment training for 40 young Nigerians, including adolescents living with HIV.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative is designed to equip participants with essential digital skills such as content creation, video storytelling, platform management, Canva design, entrepreneurship, and the use of AI tools.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the programme, participants will work on group projects, with outstanding ideas expected to receive additional support.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the opening ceremony, ACCI Deputy President, Adesoji Adesugba, emphasized the training\u2019s focus on building digital competence for effective health advocacy and social impact.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the next five days, the participants will learn skills in content creation, platform management, graphic and video design, and entrepreneurship to help amplify their voices and causes,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Director of the ACCI BEST Centre, Murtala Mahmoud, underscored the importance of skill acquisition for today\u2019s youth, particularly those in vulnerable situations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn today\u2019s world, it\u2019s not just about opportunity, it\u2019s about having the skills that can open doors and ensure economic inclusion,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<p>Director-General of NACA, Dr. Temitope Ilori, highlighted the urgency of targeting youths aged 15 to 24; one of the groups most affected by HIV due to stigma, limited education, and poor access to digital tools.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis training is not just about digital literacy; it\u2019s about helping young people become self-reliant, mentally strong, and economically empowered,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Ilori added that the programme aligns with Nigeria\u2019s national HIV prevention strategy, which emphasizes youth engagement through effective communication.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need you to be change agents; the next generation of digital media influencers,\u201d she told the participants.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond the training, beneficiaries will receive mentorship to help them apply their skills sustainably.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur goal is to ensure they can market themselves, earn a living, and advocate for their rights,\u201d Ilori concluded.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Samuel Adeola The National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA), in collaboration with the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), has launched a five-day digital empowerment training for 40 young Nigerians, including adolescents living with HIV.
