The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has announced plans to begin the construction of a new, ultra-modern headquarters for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in Abuja.<\/p>\n

The state-of-the-art facility will be sited in Maitama, one of the capital\u2019s most prominent and secure districts.<\/p>\n

Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, confirmed the development on Saturday during a media briefing.<\/p>\n

He disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to officially flag off the project next week as part of a series of infrastructure rollouts marking the second anniversary of his administration.<\/p>\n

The new INEC headquarters is one of several high-impact projects under the FCTA\u2019s renewed drive to modernize the city\u2019s infrastructure and improve public service delivery.<\/p>\n

In May, Wike had hinted at the President\u2019s forthcoming engagements in the capital, which would include the commissioning of completed projects and groundbreaking for new ones.<\/p>\n

Among the landmark projects set for unveiling are the extensively renovated Abuja International Conference Centre (AICC), newly completed bus terminals in Kugbo and Mabushi, and the strategic Apo-Wassa Road.<\/p>\n

Also on the agenda are major transport infrastructure including the N16 Interchange; road networks linking Maitama, Katampe, and Jahi; the Inner Northern Expressway from Ring Road 3 (Idu to Kubwa); and the CN8 corridor connecting Obafemi Awolowo Way to the Court of Appeal.<\/p>\n

Other key projects include the N20 flyover on Onnex-Kubwa Road, expansion of the Life Camp junction linking to Ring Road III, and several rural access roads designed to open up underserved communities.<\/p>\n

These include the Kabusa-Takushara and Kabusa-Ketti roads, the Giri District access road, a 15-kilometre stretch from the A2 Junction on the Abuja-Lokoja Road to Pai in Kwali Area Council, and vital road links in Ushafa, War College, and the Army checkpoint area in Bwari.<\/p>\n

The planned INEC headquarters project is seen as a strategic investment in institutional capacity-building and a testament to Abuja\u2019s evolution into a modern and functional capital city.<\/p>\n

The FCTA says the initiative aligns with President Tinubu\u2019s Renewed Hope Agenda and Minister Wike\u2019s push for infrastructural excellence in the Federal Capital Territory.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
