A support group that worked for the emergence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, \u2018Asiwaju Champions Group\u2019 has accused Bisi Akande, a national leader and party chieftain of All Progressives Congress\u00a0APC<\/em>\u00a0of causing havoc in the party.<\/p>\n

The group said that, Bisi Akande is plotting with some members of the National Working Committee\u00a0NWC<\/em>\u00a0of the party, to remove APC, \u00a0National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu.<\/p>\n

In a statement signed on Sunday, by the Director General of the group, Professor Ahmed Yakubu, he maintained that, Akande is enlisting political renegades in the NWC to collect signatures in order to pass a vote of no confidence on Adamu.<\/p>\n

The statement read in full:<\/p>\n

” It is unfortunate that Baba Akande who should be an elder stateman is the one trying to blackmail an unyielding President Tinubu to remove the Chairman of the party who just saw the party through the most difficult election we have had since the return to democracy.<\/p>\n

\u201cReports we have from our sources confirmed that Salihu Lukman and Mustapha Lukman, two zonal vice chairmen of the party have been contracted to the tune of 500m to collect signatures of NWC members and ultimately pass a vote of no confidence on the chairman.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to state that this plan has failed ab-initio. There are also rumours that they approached the National Secretary of the party too. This move is illegal, unconstitutional and is bound to fail.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe party and indeed the nation has \u00a0moved beyond the pre- presidential primaries issues that Akande and his co-travellers are still using to destroy the party.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe National Chairman ensured a free and fair primary that led to the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and mobilised the party and country by leading the campaign that led to the victory of the party in February 2023.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe President of the country who is a \u00a0savvy politician understands the nuances and undercurrent that happened then and has equally moved beyond all that. Why then should anyone bring it up now especially when we should be celebrating our victory.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf truly these elements have keyed into the renewed hope agenda, they wouldn’t be instrumental in causing a deliberate stress for \u00a0Mr President as he is well occupied with the country’s success, \u00a0we want to bring to the notice of our esteemed party leaders and members that these people should be warned and called to order immediately, the statement concluded.<\/p>\n
