{"id":67850,"date":"2025-06-11T20:57:16","date_gmt":"2025-06-11T20:57:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=67850"},"modified":"2025-06-11T20:57:16","modified_gmt":"2025-06-11T20:57:16","slug":"tcn-embarks-on-grid-integration-project-to-connect-bauchi-substation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/06\/11\/tcn-embarks-on-grid-integration-project-to-connect-bauchi-substation\/","title":{"rendered":"TCN Embarks on Grid Integration Project to Connect Bauchi Substation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Adenike Lawal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has commenced a critical grid integration project to connect the newly built Bauchi 330kV Transmission Substation to the national grid.<\/p>\n<p>The project involves the construction of a turn-in-turn-out (TITO) link on the existing 330kV Jos\u2013Bauchi\u2013Gombe transmission line.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement released on Wednesday, TCN\u2019s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, said the integration work began on June 10 and is scheduled for completion by June 14.<\/p>\n<p>To ensure continued power supply during the operation, the Gombe and Biu substations will be served via the Dadin-Kowa Hydro Power Station and the Maiduguri Substation, with additional support from the Maiduguri Emergency Power Plant (MEPP).<\/p>\n<p>However, TCN warned that the upgrade would result in a temporary reduction in power supply for some consumers under the Jos and Yola Electricity Distribution Companies.<\/p>\n<p>Affected areas include Bauchi, Gombe, Ashaka, Savannah, Damaturu\/Potiskum, and Biu, which may experience reduced power delivery.<\/p>\n<p>Yola and Jalingo are expected to face full outages during the five-day window.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the upgrade, a new transmission tower is being installed to strengthen grid reliability and flexibility.<\/p>\n<p>TCN said the project will improve the system\u2019s ability to withstand faults and support scheduled maintenance without major disruptions.<\/p>\n<p>According to Mbah, the enhanced infrastructure will allow the Bauchi and Gombe substations to serve as backup for each other, increasing the system\u2019s resilience.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the Jos Substation will be able to supply power to Bauchi via a 132kV line if the primary 330kV link through Gombe is unavailable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis strategic enhancement not only improves power reliability but also diversifies transmission routes and strengthens our emergency response capacity,\u201d Mbah said.<\/p>\n<p>She reaffirmed TCN\u2019s commitment to modernizing Nigeria\u2019s electricity infrastructure and appealed for public understanding during the brief project period.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPower supply will return to normal immediately after the completion of the grid integration project,\u201d she assured.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Adenike Lawal The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has commenced a critical grid integration project to connect the newly built Bauchi 330kV Transmission Substation to the national grid.
