{"id":67646,"date":"2025-06-09T19:28:16","date_gmt":"2025-06-09T19:28:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=67646"},"modified":"2025-06-09T19:28:16","modified_gmt":"2025-06-09T19:28:16","slug":"nard-suspends-warning-strike-at-barau-dikko-teaching-hospital","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/06\/09\/nard-suspends-warning-strike-at-barau-dikko-teaching-hospital\/","title":{"rendered":"NARD Suspends Warning Strike at Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Njoku Chijioke<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), at Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital, Kaduna, has suspended its six-day warning strike.<\/p>\n<p>The decision followed an emergency congress and several meetings involving the national and state leadership of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA).<\/p>\n<p>NARD President, Josiah Yakubu, confirmed that the Kaduna State Government acknowledged the legitimacy of the doctors\u2019 concerns and demands.<\/p>\n<p>A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), was jointly drafted and signed by all parties, outlining agreed steps toward resolving the issues raised.<\/p>\n<p>Among the resolutions, a cost implication for the transition from CONMESS 2014 to CONMESS 2024 has been prepared and submitted to the Secretary to the State Government for onward presentation to the Governor.<\/p>\n<p>The MoU also includes commitments from the state government to address challenges related to manpower and remuneration within the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>The leadership of the NMA and NARD pledged to monitor the process closely until all agreements are fully implemented.<\/p>\n<p>Resident doctors are expected to resume duties on Tuesday, with some reporting by 8:00 a.m. and others by 10:00 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>The suspension of the strike marks a significant step toward restoring normalcy while the government works to fulfill its commitments.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Njoku Chijioke &nbsp; The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), at Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital, Kaduna, has suspended its six-day warning strike.
