While previous administrations only talked about ending the subsidy, Tinubu acted decisively and is now tackling the aftermath head-on.

According to Wike, the policy has helped free up funds for state development, reduced the country’s mounting debt, and is gradually stabilising fuel prices through market forces and regulatory reforms.

On federalism, the FCT Minister noted that President Tinubu is addressing the over-centralisation of power by establishing zonal and regional development commissions.

This, he said, would help devolve development to the grassroots and return power to the people.

In the area of security, Wike disclosed that the President has approved the nationwide recruitment of forest guards to curb the use of forests by bandits and terrorists.

He expressed optimism that, combined with improved funding and training for security agencies, the initiative would significantly reduce insecurity.

Wike also recalled Tinubu’s achievements as Lagos State Governor, crediting him with laying the foundation for the state’s sustained development and transformation.

Earlier, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, represented by his deputy, lauded Wike’s political experience and forthrightness.

The Vice Chancellor of OAU, Prof. Adebayo Bamire, described the lecture as timely, urging Nigerians to reflect on the kind of leadership required to move the country forward.

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, praised Wike as a fearless and upright politician who speaks the truth regardless of public opinion.

By Samuel Adeola The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the bold and visionary leader Nigeria needs to achieve national progress.
