{"id":67294,"date":"2025-06-04T11:50:38","date_gmt":"2025-06-04T11:50:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=67294"},"modified":"2025-06-05T04:08:20","modified_gmt":"2025-06-05T04:08:20","slug":"firs-recruits-on-merit-transparency","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/06\/04\/firs-recruits-on-merit-transparency\/","title":{"rendered":"FIRS Recruits on Merit, Transparency"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Huldah Shado<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), has welcomed a new batch of professionals through a transparent, merit-based recruitment process, reinforcing its commitment to excellence and integrity.<\/p>\n<p>At an induction ceremony held at the FIRS headquarters in Abuja, the Executive Chairman, Dr. Zacch Adedeji, reaffirmed his vision of transforming the agency into a people-driven institution anchored on competence, innovation, and national service.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday marks not just the start of your employment, but the beginning of a personal and national journey,\u201d Dr. Adedeji told the new recruits. \u201cYour competence, commitment, and values will shape the future of our nation\u2019s fiscal stability.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The recruitment process, he said, involved rigorous digital screening and virtual interviews conducted across 10 coordinated panels, ensuring selections were based solely on merit, integrity, and readiness for public service.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Adedeji explained that the ongoing transformation at FIRS rests on three strategic pillars: People, Processes, and Technology with people at the core. \u201cTechnology is not a substitute for competence,\u201d he said, \u201cbut a catalyst for precision, speed, and impact.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He highlighted the agency\u2019s shift from being a mere revenue collection body to becoming a strategic enabler of Nigeria\u2019s economic resilience.<\/p>\n<p>Urging the inductees to lead with innovation and integrity, he invoked a Yoruba proverb: \u201cA child not well-educated will sell the house built\u2026\u201d stressing the critical role of human capital development.<\/p>\n<p>The FIRS boss also reiterated his commitment to building an institution where 80% of tasks are executed in-house by well-trained staff, with the new hires playing a central role in achieving that vision.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Huldah Shado The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), has welcomed a new batch of professionals through a transparent, merit-based recruitment process, reinforcing its commitment to excellence and integrity.
