{"id":67285,"date":"2025-06-04T11:41:16","date_gmt":"2025-06-04T11:41:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=67285"},"modified":"2025-06-04T11:41:16","modified_gmt":"2025-06-04T11:41:16","slug":"sand-heap-collapses-kills-11-workers-at-kaduna-block-factory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/06\/04\/sand-heap-collapses-kills-11-workers-at-kaduna-block-factory\/","title":{"rendered":"Sand Heap Collapses, Kills 11 Workers at Kaduna Block Factory"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Patrick Idowu<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tragedy struck in Yar-Doka Village, Damau District, Kubau Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Tuesday, when 11 workers were buried alive after a massive heap of sand collapsed at a local block-making site.<\/p>\n<p>The heartbreaking incident caused panic in the community as rescue efforts began immediately to retrieve the victims from the rubble.<\/p>\n<p>Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Kaduna State Police Command, DSP Mansir Hassan, said the Village Head of Yar-Doka, Alhaji Lawal Damau, reported the incident to the police.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was reported that a sand heap collapsed at the block-making site, resulting in the tragic death of 11 individuals while several others sustained injuries,\u201d Hassan stated.<\/p>\n<p>He disclosed that seven injured victims were rushed to the Primary Health Centre in the village, where they are currently receiving medical attention.<\/p>\n<p>Hassan added that the exact cause of the collapse remains under investigation, with local government and state authorities already informed and involved in the inquiry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe concerned authorities are working diligently to determine the circumstances that led to this unfortunate incident.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Updates will be provided as the investigation progresses,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The police spokesperson also emphasized the need for stricter safety protocols at construction and industrial sites to prevent similar occurrences.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased and those affected by this devastating tragedy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Patrick Idowu Tragedy struck in Yar-Doka Village, Damau District, Kubau Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Tuesday, when 11 workers were buried alive after a massive heap of sand collapsed at a local block-making site.
