{"id":67242,"date":"2025-06-04T05:43:02","date_gmt":"2025-06-04T05:43:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=67242"},"modified":"2025-06-04T05:43:02","modified_gmt":"2025-06-04T05:43:02","slug":"fcta-give-reasons-for-water-supply-disruption-in-abuja","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/06\/04\/fcta-give-reasons-for-water-supply-disruption-in-abuja\/","title":{"rendered":"FCTA Give Reasons For Water Supply Disruption in Abuja\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Ade Iyamoye\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has explained the recent disruption in water supply across Abuja city and surrounding satellite towns, attributing it to ongoing rehabilitation works at two of the territory\u2019s four major water treatment plants.<\/p>\n<p>According to a statement released by Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, only two of the four plants will remain operational during the two-week maintenance period, necessitating a temporary water rationing system.<\/p>\n<p>The administration disclosed that the four treatment plants, which together have a combined capacity of 30,000 cubic meters per hour, have been operating below optimal capacity, prompting the rehabilitation project awarded to Messrs SCC Nigeria Limited.<\/p>\n<p>The current phase of the project involves the replacement and reinstallation of electro-mechanical components in Phases 1 and 2, which requires temporarily shutting down those two plants.<\/p>\n<p>In an effort to reduce the impact on residents, especially during the Eid al-Adha (Sallah) festivities, the FCTA said the two affected plants will be temporarily reactivated to supply water.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the FCT Water Board has developed a rotation-based distribution schedule that alternates supply between Lines 1 and 2 of the water network.<\/p>\n<p>The administration assured the public that contractors are working around the clock to ensure the project is completed within the stipulated two-week timeframe.<\/p>\n<p>Residents are advised to store sufficient water to meet their daily needs during this period, as supply will be inconsistent.<\/p>\n<p>The FCTA appealed for understanding and cooperation from the public, emphasizing that the rehabilitation will lead to improved water supply and service delivery once completed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Ade Iyamoye\u00a0 The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has explained the recent disruption in water supply across Abuja city and surrounding satellite towns, attributing it to ongoing rehabilitation works at two of the territory\u2019s four major water treatment plants.
