{"id":66713,"date":"2025-05-27T09:59:28","date_gmt":"2025-05-27T09:59:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=66713"},"modified":"2025-05-27T09:59:28","modified_gmt":"2025-05-27T09:59:28","slug":"19-dead-8-injured-in-lokoja-obajana-road-crash-frsc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/05\/27\/19-dead-8-injured-in-lokoja-obajana-road-crash-frsc\/","title":{"rendered":"19 Dead, 8 Injured in Lokoja-Obajana Road Crash -FRSC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Samuel Adeola<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has confirmed the death of 19 persons in a tragic road crash along the Lokoja-Obajana expressway on Sunday evening.<\/p>\n<p>According to FRSC spokesperson, Olusegun Ogungbemide, the accident occurred at about 6:10 p.m. and involved a Toyota Hiace bus with 27 passengers-22 adults and five children-and a Sino truck.<\/p>\n<p>Eight others sustained varying degrees of injuries, while the remains of the deceased were taken to a nearby mosque for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, expressed deep sorrow over the incident and sympathised with the families of the victims,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n<p>He described the crash as \u201can avoidable tragedy\u201d caused by speed violation and wrongful overtaking.<\/p>\n<p>In response, the Corps Marshal has directed stricter enforcement of speed limits and increased patrol presence on high-risk routes, warning that reckless driving will no longer be tolerated.<\/p>\n<p>The FRSC also urged motorists to adhere strictly to traffic regulations and drive responsibly to prevent further loss of lives on Nigerian roads.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Samuel Adeola The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has confirmed the death of 19 persons in a tragic road crash along the Lokoja-Obajana expressway on Sunday evening.
