{"id":66522,"date":"2025-05-26T01:31:35","date_gmt":"2025-05-26T01:31:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=66522"},"modified":"2025-05-26T01:31:35","modified_gmt":"2025-05-26T01:31:35","slug":"im-not-desperate-to-be-president-obi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/05\/26\/im-not-desperate-to-be-president-obi\/","title":{"rendered":"I\u2019m Not Desperate to Be President -Obi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Oso Abidemi<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Labour Party\u2019s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has declared that he is not desperate to become Nigeria\u2019s President, but rather desperate to see the country succeed.<\/p>\n<p>Obi made this statement on Saturday during a special Anniversary Sabbath service at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Umuahia, marking two years of Governor Alex Otti\u2019s administration in Abia State.<\/p>\n<p>Acknowledging the challenges of governance in Nigeria and its states, Obi called on the people of Abia to pray for Governor Otti and his Commissioners.<\/p>\n<p>He also urged Nigerians to pray for all leaders to ensure public funds are not wasted but used effectively for the common good.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I say to people I am not desperate to be a President, I am desperate to see Nigeria work,\u201d Obi said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are just trustees, like it is happening in Abia, we want it to happen everywhere in Nigeria,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Obi praised Governor Otti for his achievements within two years, saying the governor has made a significant difference in governance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have come to celebrate two years with a difference. People have always said that they need eight years, they need ten years, they need twenty years.
