{"id":66486,"date":"2025-05-25T05:56:10","date_gmt":"2025-05-25T05:56:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=66486"},"modified":"2025-05-25T05:56:10","modified_gmt":"2025-05-25T05:56:10","slug":"police-arrest-four-minors-for-theft","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/05\/25\/police-arrest-four-minors-for-theft\/","title":{"rendered":"Police Arrest Four Minors for Theft\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Adewunmi Oluwaseun<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Four underage boys have been arrested by the Federal Capital Territory Police Command for allegedly stealing iron rods from an uncompleted building in Guzape, Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>The suspects-Matthew Vincent, 15; Timothy Shedrack, 15; Moses Vincent, 11; and Lucky Enoch-were apprehended after residents raised alarm over recurring suspicious activity at the site.<\/p>\n<p>Witnesses reported nightly intrusions, strange noises, and hasty movements around the building.<\/p>\n<p>Police investigations revealed that the boys scaled the fence, used crude tools to dismantle structural elements, and sold the rods to a local scrap buyer identified as \u2018Babanbola\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Efforts are underway to trace the alleged buyer, who is believed to be part of a wider syndicate that deals in stolen construction materials.<\/p>\n<p>Reacting to the incident, FCT Police Commissioner, Olatunji Disu, urged parents and guardians to keep close watch over their children\u2019s movements and instill discipline to steer them away from crime.<\/p>\n<p>He also called on community members to stay alert, report suspicious behaviour, and support safety initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cConstruction site owners should enhance security measures, including deploying guards and installing surveillance systems,\u201d he advised.<\/p>\n<p>Disu assured the public that the minors will be rehabilitated in juvenile homes while legal actions will be taken against those involved.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Adewunmi Oluwaseun Four underage boys have been arrested by the Federal Capital Territory Police Command for allegedly stealing iron rods from an uncompleted building in Guzape, Abuja.
