{"id":66427,"date":"2025-05-23T18:34:13","date_gmt":"2025-05-23T18:34:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=66427"},"modified":"2025-05-24T13:42:15","modified_gmt":"2025-05-24T13:42:15","slug":"fcta-to-take-possession-of-4794-revoked-properties","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/05\/23\/fcta-to-take-possession-of-4794-revoked-properties\/","title":{"rendered":"FCTA to Take Possession of 4,794 Revoked Properties"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Njoku Chijioke<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has announced that it will commence the repossession of 4,794 properties across Abuja from Monday, following the revocation of their land titles over non-payment of ground rent for more than a decade.<br \/>\nThe affected properties span key districts such as Central Area, Garki, Wuse, Asokoro, Maitama, and Guzape.<br \/>\nThe FCTA had earlier declared the revocation of the titles on March 17, citing violations of the terms and conditions attached to the Rights of Occupancy.<br \/>\nA 21-day grace period was granted to defaulters to settle their obligations, after which the titles were officially revoked.<br \/>\nLere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, stated that the administration will begin asserting ownership rights on the properties starting Monday.<br \/>\nHe noted that the properties would be sealed off, and access restricted.<br \/>\nChijioke Nwankwoeze, Director of Land at the FCTA, added that the administration is currently compiling compliance records from property owners who responded within the grace period-particularly those who defaulted for less than 10 years.<br \/>\nHe said decisions on the future of the affected properties would be made after full possession is taken.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Njoku Chijioke The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has announced that it will commence the repossession of 4,794 properties across Abuja from Monday, following the revocation of their land titles over non-payment of ground rent for more than a decade.
