{"id":66386,"date":"2025-05-23T10:10:37","date_gmt":"2025-05-23T10:10:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=66386"},"modified":"2025-05-23T10:10:37","modified_gmt":"2025-05-23T10:10:37","slug":"fcta-cracks-down-on-reckless-driving","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/05\/23\/fcta-cracks-down-on-reckless-driving\/","title":{"rendered":"FCTA Cracks Down on Reckless Driving"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Adenike Lawal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has declared zero tolerance for reckless driving in Abuja, warning motorists against running red lights and driving against traffic.<\/p>\n<p>Director of the Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS), Abdulateef Bello, issued the warning on Thursday, stating that offenders will now face immediate legal action.<\/p>\n<p>Bello cited the rising wave of traffic violations and emphasized that such dangerous behaviors threaten public safety.<\/p>\n<p>He pointed to the FCT Road Transport Regulation 2023 (Regulation 18, Nos. 172-173), which prescribes fines, vehicle impoundment, and prosecution in Mobile Court for such offenses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe era of ignoring traffic rules is over.
