{"id":66383,"date":"2025-05-23T08:52:47","date_gmt":"2025-05-23T08:52:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=66383"},"modified":"2025-05-23T08:52:47","modified_gmt":"2025-05-23T08:52:47","slug":"prioritize-safety-exercise-caution-always-lastma-gm-tells-drivers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/05\/23\/prioritize-safety-exercise-caution-always-lastma-gm-tells-drivers\/","title":{"rendered":"Prioritize Safety, Exercise Caution Always, LASTMA GM Tells Drivers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Huldah Shado<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Olalekan Bakare-Oki, has urged drivers to prioritize safety and exercise caution on the road, warning that excessive speed remains a major cause of deadly accidents.<\/p>\n<p>Bakare-Oki gave the advice following a serious crash along the Lekki-Ajah Expressway on Thursday, which left a minibus driver and a passenger critically injured.<\/p>\n<p>The accident occurred near Ikota School when a white Ford Jeep with number plate KWL 574 CY, reportedly speeding, lost control and rammed into a commercial minibus with registration number FST 207 YK.<\/p>\n<p>The minibus driver sustained a severe arm fracture and slipped into a coma, while a passenger in the vehicle suffered intense nasal bleeding and was found unconscious.<\/p>\n<p>LASTMA&#8217;s Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment, Adebayo Taofiq, said officers of the agency responded swiftly, rescuing the injured and transferring them to a nearby hospital with support from the police, who also helped secure the scene.<\/p>\n<p>While wishing the victims a speedy recovery, Bakare-Oki reiterated LASTMA\u2019s commitment to protecting lives through efficient traffic control and aggressive public safety awareness.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Huldah Shado General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Olalekan Bakare-Oki, has urged drivers to prioritize safety and exercise caution on the road, warning that excessive speed remains a major cause of deadly accidents.
