{"id":66370,"date":"2025-05-23T04:50:48","date_gmt":"2025-05-23T04:50:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=66370"},"modified":"2025-05-23T04:50:48","modified_gmt":"2025-05-23T04:50:48","slug":"fg-sues-senator-natasha-over-controversial-tv-interview","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/05\/23\/fg-sues-senator-natasha-over-controversial-tv-interview\/","title":{"rendered":"FG Sues Senator Natasha over Controversial TV Interview"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Samuel Adeola<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Federal Government has dragged Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to court over explosive comments she made during a live broadcast on Channels Television.<\/p>\n<p>The case, marked CR\/297\/25, was officially filed on May 16, 2025, at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>The government is accusing the Kogi Central lawmaker of defamation under Section 391 of the Penal Code, an offence punishable under Section 392.<\/p>\n<p>The charges stem from her April 3 appearance on the programme Politics Today, where she alleged threats to her life and accused key political figures of orchestrating a plot to \u201celiminate\u201d her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat is important to me is to stay alive, because dead men tell no tales,\u201d she said during the broadcast.<\/p>\n<p>She also claimed that Senate President Godswill Akpabio had withdrawn her security and had intentions for her to be killed in Kogi State.<\/p>\n<p>In a separate charge, the prosecution alleges that during a phone conversation on March 27, Akpoti-Uduaghan made a shocking remark suggesting that the late Iniubong Umoren\u2019s organs were used for Akpabio\u2019s wife.<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Government, acting through the Director of Public Prosecution, insists that the statements were made with the intent to damage reputations.<\/p>\n<p>Senate President Akpabio, former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello, several senators, and police officers are expected to testify when proceedings begin.
