{"id":66113,"date":"2025-05-20T13:17:45","date_gmt":"2025-05-20T13:17:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=66113"},"modified":"2025-05-20T13:17:45","modified_gmt":"2025-05-20T13:17:45","slug":"court-remands-11-men-for-killing-setting-buildings-on-fire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/05\/20\/court-remands-11-men-for-killing-setting-buildings-on-fire\/","title":{"rendered":"Court Remands 11 men for Killing, Setting Buildings on Fire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Patrick Idowu<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An Iyaganku Magistrates\u2019 Court in Ibadan on Tuesday ordered the remand of eleven men accused of murdering a man and destroying property worth millions of naira during a violent attack in the Lagelu area.<\/p>\n<p>The accused-Alim Olumuyi, Lateef Kareem, Kazeem Adeyemo, Oderinde Adedayo, Idowu Oladipupo, Tijani Akanmu, Yakub Oyelahan, Michael Abiodun, Akeem Akande, Kazeem Oke, and Ishola Adebayo-are facing a five-count charge bordering on conspiracy, murder and arson.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutor Sergeant Samuel Owolabi told the court that the suspects shot and killed one Segun Babatunde during the March 7 incident.<\/p>\n<p>He also alleged that they set ablaze several buildings valued at N150 million and destroyed a tractor worth N120 million belonging to one Idowu Biliaminu.<\/p>\n<p>Magistrate Gladys Oladele declined to take their plea due to lack of jurisdiction and directed that the case file be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice.<\/p>\n<p>The case has been adjourned until June 16 for mention.
