{"id":65700,"date":"2025-05-13T15:11:33","date_gmt":"2025-05-13T15:11:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=65700"},"modified":"2025-05-13T15:11:33","modified_gmt":"2025-05-13T15:11:33","slug":"cng-not-a-failure-success-evident-nigerians-say","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/05\/13\/cng-not-a-failure-success-evident-nigerians-say\/","title":{"rendered":"CNG Not a Failure, Success Evident, Nigerians Say"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Ade Iyamoye\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nigerians have pushed back strongly against claims that the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), initiative is a failed project, insisting that its success is visible and growing by the day.<\/p>\n<p>The controversy began after an X user known as Duke Of Nigeria (@xagreat)\u2014a self-proclaimed God-fearing APC member and repentant BATist\u2014posted that the CNG campaign had fizzled out because \u201cnobody is paid to promote CNG again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He described the project as a &#8220;grand wastage of public funds&#8221; and tagged it a failure.<\/p>\n<p>But the post quickly drew backlash, with numerous Nigerians citing personal experience and visible progress of the CNG rollout nationwide.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCommercial transporters in Lagos don dey use am\u2026 to fill 75kg no reach 5k,\u201d one user, @Blessing_boiy, responded.<\/p>\n<p>Another, @christ4moi, noted, \u201cCNG stations are opening rapidly across the country due to strong public demand. The sensitization you mislabeled as propaganda seems to have worked.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Further testimonials pointed to the increasing use of CNG by public and private transport operators. \u201cPlenty keke dey use am for here oo,\u201d another user added.<\/p>\n<p>Others pointed out that hundreds of CNG trucks are now being cleared daily at Nigerian ports, and traditional fuel trucks may soon be phased out.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the growing evidence of CNG\u2019s adoption, Duke Of Nigeria remained dismissive, repeatedly responding to positive replies with, \u201cAre u using it?\u201d and \u201cStory for the gods.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Government\u2019s CNG program was introduced as part of efforts to reduce dependence on petrol and ease the impact of fuel subsidy removal.<\/p>\n<p>While challenges remain, growing adoption suggests the initiative may be gaining ground faster than critics are willing to admit.<\/p>\n<p>As CNG buses, tricycles, and trucks continue to appear on Nigerian roads, citizens say the success of the initiative is no longer a question\u2014it is a fact unfolding daily.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Ade Iyamoye\u00a0 Nigerians have pushed back strongly against claims that the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), initiative is a failed project, insisting that its success is visible and growing by the day.
