The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has strongly cautioned Governor Ademola Adeleke, advising him against endangering the prosperity of Osun State University (UNIOSUN) through what they label as “anti-people policies.”<\/p>\n
According to the APC, the Adeleke administration has caused considerable harm to the state-owned institution by reducing its annual subvention by over 60 percent. The party asserts that this substantial cut is aimed at financing the governor’s office, a decision they criticize as harmful to the effective operation of the educational institution.<\/p>\n
According to Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, the State APC Chairman, as conveyed in a statement by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Chief Kola Olabisi, in Osogbo, the state capital, the PDP-led government’s actions pose a threat to the thriving university.<\/p>\n
Expressing dismay, Lawal noted that the Adeleke government had only disbursed N1.9 billion out of the total N5.4 billion budgeted for the institution. He urged Governor Adeleke to justify his allocations of “N6.5 billion for his food and entertainment and N3.6 billion for the renovation of his office and other mundane items created for his enjoyment and ego-boosting.”<\/p>\n
