{"id":65185,"date":"2025-05-02T00:32:05","date_gmt":"2025-05-02T00:32:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=65185"},"modified":"2025-05-02T00:32:05","modified_gmt":"2025-05-02T00:32:05","slug":"wike-pursues-china-deal-for-abuja-water-projects","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/05\/02\/wike-pursues-china-deal-for-abuja-water-projects\/","title":{"rendered":"Wike Pursues China Deal for Abuja Water Projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Ifeoluwa Odunayo<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is on a mission to China to push forward crucial water supply projects for Abuja\u2019s satellite towns, his media aide Lere Olayinka has confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>The minister, who made a brief stop in Dubai, is set to engage with executives of the China Geo Engineering Corporation Overseas Construction Group.<\/p>\n<p>The talks are a follow-up to President Bola Tinubu\u2019s 2023 visit to China, which resulted in a memorandum of understanding aimed at enhancing water and electricity infrastructure in the FCT.<\/p>\n<p>Under the President\u2019s Renewed Hope Agenda, \u20a650 billion has already been approved for potable water projects in Gwagwalada, Kwali, Kuje, and other underserved areas.<\/p>\n<p>Wike\u2019s visit is expected to accelerate the rollout of these projects and strengthen Nigeria\u2019s partnership with China in addressing basic infrastructure needs.<\/p>\n<p>He is scheduled to return to Nigeria next week.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Ifeoluwa Odunayo Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is on a mission to China to push forward crucial water supply projects for Abuja\u2019s satellite towns, his media aide Lere Olayinka has confirmed.
