{"id":65149,"date":"2025-05-01T05:14:22","date_gmt":"2025-05-01T05:14:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=65149"},"modified":"2025-05-01T05:14:22","modified_gmt":"2025-05-01T05:14:22","slug":"flood-fcta-to-shut-lokogoma-access-road","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/05\/01\/flood-fcta-to-shut-lokogoma-access-road\/","title":{"rendered":"Flood: FCTA to Shut Lokogoma Access Road"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Patrick Idowu<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In an effort to curb flood-related tragedies during the approaching rainy season, the Federal Capital Territory Administration has announced plans to block human and vehicular access to the Lokogoma Estate area.<\/p>\n<p>The Director of the FCT Department of Development Control, Mukhtar Galadima, revealed this on Tuesday during a stakeholders\u2019 inspection of the flood-prone estate.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasized that the move is part of wider emergency strategies aimed at ensuring no lives are lost to flooding in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Galadima lamented the persistent defiance of developers who continue to build on waterways despite repeated warnings.<\/p>\n<p>He said such illegal constructions have worsened flood risks and would no longer be tolerated.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the FCTA is set to undertake a complete review of Lokogoma\u2019s infrastructural layout.<\/p>\n<p>This could include the demolition of structures obstructing natural water channels and a full reopening of the drainage system to allow for proper water flow.<\/p>\n<p>The planned road diversion, he noted, is a temporary but necessary sacrifice to protect lives and property in the estate and its surroundings.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Patrick Idowu In an effort to curb flood-related tragedies during the approaching rainy season, the Federal Capital Territory Administration has announced plans to block human and vehicular access to the Lokogoma Estate area.
