The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has announced major leadership changes with the appointment of Maryam Idrisu as the new managing director of NNPC Trading and Obioma Abangwu as chief liaison officer for Board Matters.<\/p>\n

The shakeup comes amid the retirement and reported sack of over 200 employees, including top executives linked to former Group Chief Executive Officer Mele Kyari.<\/p>\n

Notable among those affected are Bala Wunti, former head of National Petroleum Investment Management Services, and Ibrahim Onoja, managing director of the Kaduna Refinery.<\/p>\n

Also exiting is Lawal Sade, chief compliance officer and former head of NNPC Trading.<\/p>\n

Sources within the company confirmed that the move affects staff with less than 17 months to retirement, describing it as a long-standing internal practice aimed at refreshing the system and promoting younger talent.<\/p>\n

The company reportedly offered incentives to facilitate the early exits.<\/p>\n
