{"id":65062,"date":"2025-04-29T14:17:02","date_gmt":"2025-04-29T14:17:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=65062"},"modified":"2025-04-29T14:17:02","modified_gmt":"2025-04-29T14:17:02","slug":"nema-iom-rescue-203-stranded-nigerians-from-libya","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/04\/29\/nema-iom-rescue-203-stranded-nigerians-from-libya\/","title":{"rendered":"NEMA, IOM Rescue 203 Stranded Nigerians from Libya"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Adenike Lawal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Two hundred and three Nigerians trapped in Libya have returned safely to the country in a major humanitarian operation spearheaded by the National Emergency Management Agency and the International Organization for Migration.<\/p>\n<p>The returnees arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos aboard a chartered Al Buraq flight on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The group included adult men and women, children, and infants \u2014 many of whom had faced dangerous conditions during failed migration journeys across North Africa.<\/p>\n<p>This rescue was part of IOM\u2019s Voluntary Humanitarian Repatriation Programme, executed in partnership with Nigerian agencies including Immigration, Refugees Commission, DSS, Police, and health officials.
