{"id":64932,"date":"2025-04-27T15:29:18","date_gmt":"2025-04-27T15:29:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=64932"},"modified":"2025-04-27T18:32:10","modified_gmt":"2025-04-27T18:32:10","slug":"jamb-nabs-27-impersonators-in-abuja","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/04\/27\/jamb-nabs-27-impersonators-in-abuja\/","title":{"rendered":"JAMB Nabs 27 Impersonators in Abuja"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Patrick Idowu<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has arrested 27 impersonators during the ongoing 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>This was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday, April 25, 2025, by JAMB spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, who confirmed that the suspects had been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for immediate prosecution.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Dr. Benjamin also addressed concerns over an incident at Caleb University, Lagos, where candidates wearing hijabs faced unauthorised restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>He assured that swift action had been taken, and apologies were extended to the affected candidates.<\/p>\n<p>The vice-chancellor condemned the actions of an \u201coverzealous security officer\u201d responsible for the disruption.<\/p>\n<p>As part of broader security measures, JAMB recently launched decoy websites to expose candidates seeking shortcuts.<\/p>\n<p>Through the trap, at least 180 candidates were caught after paying up to \u20a630,000 for leaked questions and fake score upgrades.<\/p>\n<p>In preparation for the 2025 UTME, JAMB disbursed \u20a6397,030,900 in transport allowances to 1,909 officials who participated in the nationwide mock examination held on April 10.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Patrick Idowu The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has arrested 27 impersonators during the ongoing 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Abuja.
