{"id":64825,"date":"2025-04-25T12:28:30","date_gmt":"2025-04-25T12:28:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=64825"},"modified":"2025-04-25T12:28:30","modified_gmt":"2025-04-25T12:28:30","slug":"poll-tension-grows-in-lagos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/04\/25\/poll-tension-grows-in-lagos\/","title":{"rendered":"Poll Tension Grows in Lagos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Oso Abidemi<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Lagos State House of Assembly has raised the alarm over what it described as rushed and unclear preparations for the upcoming local council polls scheduled for July.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In a fiery plenary session, lawmakers summoned the Chairman of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, Justice Bola Okikiolu-Ighile, along with all LASIEC commissioners, demanding a thorough explanation of their plans for the elections.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Chairman of the House Committee on Judiciary, Petitions, Human Rights and LASIEC, Oladipo Ajomale, criticised the commission\u2019s guidelines, calling them vague and insufficient.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe process appears hurried. The guidelines do not address voters\u2019 concerns.
