{"id":64572,"date":"2025-04-22T09:32:28","date_gmt":"2025-04-22T09:32:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=64572"},"modified":"2025-04-22T09:32:28","modified_gmt":"2025-04-22T09:32:28","slug":"oando-inspires-girls-to-dream-big-in-science-tech","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/04\/22\/oando-inspires-girls-to-dream-big-in-science-tech\/","title":{"rendered":"Oando Inspires Girls to Dream Big in Science, Tech"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Adenike Lawal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a push for gender equity in education, Oando Foundation is breaking barriers and rewriting the narrative for young girls in science and technology.<\/p>\n<p>Marking International Women\u2019s Month, the Foundation hosted an inspiring event at its Lagos headquarters, welcoming female students from Dele Ajomale School Complex\u2014one of its Adopt A School partners.<\/p>\n<p>The goal was clear: expose the girls to real-life opportunities in the energy sector and ignite their interest in careers traditionally dominated by men.<\/p>\n<p>With less than a quarter of STEM graduates in Nigeria being women, according to the National Bureau of Statistics, Oando Foundation is tackling the problem where it begins\u2014early education and self-belief.<\/p>\n<p>Tonia Uduimoh, Head of Oando Foundation, encouraged the girls to believe in their potential.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no limit to what you can achieve,\u201d she told the students, urging them to see themselves in the shoes of the professional women they met during the tour.<\/p>\n<p>The students interacted with female engineers, analysts, and managers who shared their stories of grit and growth.
