{"id":64495,"date":"2025-04-20T18:23:26","date_gmt":"2025-04-20T18:23:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=64495"},"modified":"2025-04-20T18:23:26","modified_gmt":"2025-04-20T18:23:26","slug":"soldier-falls-into-police-net-in-abuja-for-stealing-car","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/04\/20\/soldier-falls-into-police-net-in-abuja-for-stealing-car\/","title":{"rendered":"Soldier Falls into Police Net in Abuja for Stealing Car"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Adenike Lawal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a startling turn of events, a serving Nigerian Army personnel has been arrested in Abuja for allegedly stealing a car and attempting to sell it without proper documentation.<\/p>\n<p>The suspect, Lance Corporal Yusuf Yunnusa, 33, currently serving with the 82 Battalion in Rukuba, Plateau State, was apprehended by operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Police Command on Friday, April 19, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>His arrest followed a tip-off about a suspicious attempt to sell a vehicle at Mamu Filling Station in Lambata, Kwali Area Council.<\/p>\n<p>The swift response by the police led to a surveillance operation that culminated in Yunnusa\u2019s arrest around 4:30pm.<\/p>\n<p>Recovered at the scene was an ash-coloured Toyota Corolla LE with registration number ABC 570 FJ.<\/p>\n<p>Further investigation revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen from the Federal Secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday, April 17, at about noon.<\/p>\n<p>The suspect reportedly confessed to stealing the car from its parking lot at the Secretariat and driving it to Kwali in a bid to sell it.<\/p>\n<p>Yunnusa is currently in police custody as investigations continue into the circumstances of the theft and whether other accomplices were involved.<\/p>\n<p>This incident raises fresh concerns over the integrity and discipline of some security operatives amid calls for internal reforms within the armed forces.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Adenike Lawal In a startling turn of events, a serving Nigerian Army personnel has been arrested in Abuja for allegedly stealing a car and attempting to sell it without proper documentation.
