The incident unfolded after the Saudi Arabian authorities canceled the visas of all 264 passengers who were initially airlifted to Jeddah from Lagos and Kano by Air Peace. Subsequently, 87 passengers were allowed to remain in the kingdom.<\/p>\n
The embassy issued a statement emphasizing the need for passengers to review their documents to ensure conformity with entry conditions. It highlighted that the deportation was not exclusive to Nigerian citizens, stating that passengers who were denied entry and subsequently deported had provided incorrect information to obtain a visa category that did not apply to them. The embassy underscored the importance of following procedures and laws enacted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for all visitors.<\/p>\n
In response to the situation, the Nigerian government expressed its commitment to investigating the visa cancellations. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it is looking into the matter to ascertain whether any consular or aviation rules were violated.<\/p>\n
The flight, which originated from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos via the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano, landed at King Abdul-Aziz International Airport in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
