{"id":64412,"date":"2025-04-17T13:03:29","date_gmt":"2025-04-17T13:03:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=64412"},"modified":"2025-04-17T13:03:29","modified_gmt":"2025-04-17T13:03:29","slug":"another-abandoned-baby-found-on-refuse-heap-in-kuje","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/04\/17\/another-abandoned-baby-found-on-refuse-heap-in-kuje\/","title":{"rendered":"Another Abandoned Baby Found on Refuse Heap in Kuje"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Patrick Idowu<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Residents of Unguwar Shadadi in Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory were thrown into shock early Tuesday morning as another newborn baby was discovered abandoned on a refuse heap.<\/p>\n<p>The baby, believed to have been dumped by an unidentified woman, was found by local vigilantes around 5am during the final rounds of their night patrol.<\/p>\n<p>Danjuma Alkali, one of the vigilante members, said the cry of the infant wrapped in a piece of cloth drew their attention to the dumpsite.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe rushed to the spot and found the baby lying helplessly. It was a heartbreaking scene,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>With the social welfare department of the council on strike, the baby was taken to a nearby motherless home on the advice of a community elder, Alkali added.<\/p>\n<p>The disturbing incident comes barely two weeks after another newborn was found abandoned at an uncompleted building in Kuchiako, also within the council.<\/p>\n<p>That case was promptly reported to security agencies.<\/p>\n<p>The police have confirmed the latest incident and assured that investigations are underway to identify and apprehend the culprit.<\/p>\n<p>Residents have called for stronger community awareness and better welfare response to prevent such heartless acts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Patrick Idowu Residents of Unguwar Shadadi in Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory were thrown into shock early Tuesday morning as another newborn baby was discovered abandoned on a refuse heap.
