If we don’t, we might get embarrassed on the day of commissioning. By then, it would be too late.”

Wike cited an example of the Mabushi Bus Terminal, where a recent inspection helped identify and correct some issues. According to him, the value of field inspection lies in preempting problems before final handover.

During his site tour, the Minister inspected several key projects including the Giri District Road Network, the 16-kilometre Inner Northern Expressway with its 15-span bridge linking the Idu Industrial Area to the Kubwa and Zuba Expressway, the Collector Road CN8 from Moshood Abiola Way to Dakibiyu in Jabi, and the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal Complex also in Jabi.

Wike said both the Giri District roads and the INEX project, being handled by Levante Construction and Salini Nigeria Limited respectively, are expected to be completed by the end of May.

At the Giri site, which services the EFCC Academy and the University of Abuja, Wike stated, “This road will significantly open up the Giri District. Levante has assured us that they will hand it over by May end.”

On the INEX project, he said, “Salini has promised to deliver by the end of May as well. We’re seeing real progress, especially at the Idu rail bridge. It used to be very rough. Now, it connects properly to the Zuba road. That is a big achievement.”

The Court of Appeal Complex, he revealed, is expected to be ready for commissioning by September 2025.

Expressing his satisfaction with the pace and quality of work, the Minister said these projects are not only meeting expectations but are already transforming the connectivity and development of the FCT.

“It gives us joy when we see communities finally connected. That is the Renewed Hope Agenda in action,” Wike said. “Promises are being kept, and we are happy the people are seeing the results.”

By Patrick Idowu The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike, has explained why he personally visits construction sites across Abuja, saying he would rather see things for himself than be embarrassed during project commissioning.
