Ignatius Ayau Kaigama, has said that Nigeria is in urgent need of healing, as the country continues to grapple with deep wounds inflicted by insecurity, bad governance, and economic hardship.<\/p>\n<p>Preaching at the 2025 Chrism Mass held at Our Lady Queen of Nigeria Pro-Cathedral, Abuja, Archbishop Kaigama described Nigeria as a wounded nation &#8220;bleeding from spiritual, social, economic, and political injuries.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our country needs healing \u2014 healing from the wounds caused by greed, impunity, political manipulation, violent crimes, and economic oppression,&#8221; he stated, adding that &#8220;We are a people traumatized by unrelenting killings, displacements, and the general collapse of moral and spiritual values.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Kaigama lamented the rising tide of insecurity, referencing attacks in Bokkos, Ondo, Southern Kaduna, and the killing of soldiers and civilians in different parts of the country.<\/p>\n<p>He decried the culture of impunity, where criminals strike and vanish without consequence.<\/p>\n<p>He questioned whether the failure to address these crises was due to lack of technological advancement or the absence of political will.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow can these \u2018unknown gunmen\u2019 continue to operate freely without being apprehended?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n<p>The Archbishop further called for healing within the Church, especially among priests, noting that many carry hidden wounds and need spiritual, emotional, and mental support. \u201cWe, too, need healing as we strive to be instruments of healing to others.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He urged Nigerians to reject corruption, violence, and falsehood, emphasizing the need for collective repentance and national renewal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Lord is calling us to be a healing presence in our wounded world.
