During an appearance on ARISE TV on Wednesday, Bode George, reflecting on the recent off-cycle elections in Bayelsa, Kogi, and Imo states, emphasized the critical importance of collaboration among Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), and Peter Obi of the Labour Party. The objective is to create a robust opposition force capable of challenging the influence of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu and the APC.<\/p>\n
“We, as the opposition, must go back and recognize ourselves. Let us get back to the constitution of the party; everybody should bury the hatchet and tell ourselves the truth about power and reconfigure the party,” George urged. He highlighted the common roots of the three presidential candidates in the PDP and stressed the need to revisit the party’s constitution as established by its founding fathers.<\/p>\n
“It\u2019s time to come back and let us revisit the constitution as written by the founding fathers. We deviated from it and became a divided house. And a divided house will always be a defeated house,” he warned. The seasoned politician urged his fellow opposition members to prioritize unity over personal ambitions, encouraging a collective effort to learn from past mistakes and rebuild a stronger, more cohesive opposition.<\/p>\n
George pointed out the missed opportunity in the 2023 general elections, emphasizing the potential impact of a united front. “If those three were all in the same party, which party would be in the villa by now?” he questioned, underlining the strategic advantage that a consolidated opposition could bring.<\/p>\n
