{"id":64219,"date":"2025-04-14T13:27:13","date_gmt":"2025-04-14T13:27:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=64219"},"modified":"2025-04-14T13:27:13","modified_gmt":"2025-04-14T13:27:13","slug":"police-set-to-drag-portable-to-court-over-defamation-claims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/04\/14\/police-set-to-drag-portable-to-court-over-defamation-claims\/","title":{"rendered":"Police Set to Drag Portable to Court over Defamation Claims"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Patrick Idowu<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed it is making swift arrangements to arraign popular street-hop artiste Habeeb Badmus, widely known as Portable, before a magistrate court in Ilorin on charges of alleged defamation.<\/p>\n<p>The Command\u2019s spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, announced the development in Ilorin on Sunday, following Portable\u2019s arrest in connection with a petition filed by renowned fuji musician Okunola Saheed, famously known as Osupa.<\/p>\n<p>According to the police, Osupa\u2019s petition levelled serious allegations against the controversial singer, accusing him of criminal defamation, threat to life, incitement, character assassination, conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace, and the use of abusive and insulting language.<\/p>\n<p>SP Ejire-Adeyemi confirmed that police detectives had acted lawfully and secured an arrest warrant from the magistrate court to proceed with the investigation and subsequent arraignment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn view of the weight of these allegations and the supporting evidence presented, the command secured a valid arrest warrant from a magistrate court sitting in Ilorin,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n<p>She added that the police remain committed to upholding the rule of law and due process as they move towards prosecuting the case.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Patrick Idowu The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed it is making swift arrangements to arraign popular street-hop artiste Habeeb Badmus, widely known as Portable, before a magistrate court in Ilorin on charges of alleged defamation.
