{"id":64093,"date":"2025-04-11T11:45:59","date_gmt":"2025-04-11T11:45:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=64093"},"modified":"2025-04-11T11:45:59","modified_gmt":"2025-04-11T11:45:59","slug":"nnpc-nears-finish-line-on-akk-gas-pipeline","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/04\/11\/nnpc-nears-finish-line-on-akk-gas-pipeline\/","title":{"rendered":"NNPC Nears Finish Line on AKK Gas Pipeline"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Adenike Lawal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has reported significant progress on the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline, revealing that the ambitious project is now seventy two percent complete.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement came during the 2025 Oloibiri Lecture Series and Energy Forum in Abuja, where Mr. Bayo Ojulari, Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Limited, outlined the milestones achieved so far.<\/p>\n<p>Represented by Mr. Udobong Ntia, Executive Vice President for Upstream, Ojulari reaffirmed the company\u2019s unwavering commitment to driving Nigeria\u2019s energy transition.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In line with Nigeria\u2019s energy transition plan aimed at achieving net zero emissions by 2060, NNPC is spearheading several gas-focused initiatives,&#8221; he stated, stressing that &#8220;Our target includes expanding the Autogas program to over one million vehicles by 2026, and completing vital infrastructure like the AKK pipeline, which is currently seventy two percent complete. We are on track to deliver this project fully by the first quarter of 2026.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ojulari stressed the importance of energy security for Nigeria&#8217;s growing population of over two hundred million, underscoring NNPC\u2019s broader efforts to boost power generation and ensure sustainable energy supply.<\/p>\n<p>Among these initiatives is the BiIPP-JV power project, which is expected to contribute one gigawatt of electricity in its initial phases.<\/p>\n<p>The AKK pipeline is a cornerstone of Nigeria\u2019s energy infrastructure, designed to unlock the country&#8217;s vast gas resources, stimulate industrial growth, and power homes and businesses across the nation.<\/p>\n<p>With momentum building and completion on the horizon, the AKK project is poised to become a game changer in Nigeria\u2019s energy landscape.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Adenike Lawal The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has reported significant progress on the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline, revealing that the ambitious project is now seventy two percent complete.
