The Governing Council of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti has cleared the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abayomi Fasina, of sexual harassment allegations brought against him by a senior lecturer, Folasade Adebayo.<\/p>\n

After an exhaustive investigation, the council declared that no evidence supported the claims.<\/p>\n

Instead, the council concluded that the accusations were a failed attempt to pressure Professor Fasina into confirming Adebayo as the Director of Works and Services at the institution.<\/p>\n

The council, which meticulously reviewed all materials presented, including audio recordings, dismissed the allegations as baseless.<\/p>\n

Adebayo has been ordered to tender a written apology to the council within seven days for tarnishing the reputation of the university.<\/p>\n

In a further move to uphold integrity within the system, the council also directed a review of Adebayo\u2019s backdated promotion, citing irregularities in the promotion process.<\/p>\n

Positions for the Director of Physical Planning and Director of Works and Services are now set to be advertised openly, to ensure transparency and merit-based appointments.<\/p>\n

The accusations had initially triggered concern among university staff and stakeholders, prompting the establishment of a fact-finding committee in February.<\/p>\n

This followed mounting pressure from the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, FUOYE chapter, to address the matter.<\/p>\n

The council\u2019s verdict aligns with the earlier findings of the Nigerian police, which also found no evidence of misconduct on the part of the Vice Chancellor.<\/p>\n

With this resolution, FUOYE moves to restore its public image and reassert its commitment to due process and accountability within the institution.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
