{"id":63594,"date":"2025-03-31T16:15:36","date_gmt":"2025-03-31T16:15:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=63594"},"modified":"2025-03-31T16:15:36","modified_gmt":"2025-03-31T16:15:36","slug":"nscdc-seizes-truck-with-70000-litres-of-stolen-crude-oil","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/03\/31\/nscdc-seizes-truck-with-70000-litres-of-stolen-crude-oil\/","title":{"rendered":"NSCDC Seizes Truck with 70,000 Litres of Stolen Crude Oil"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Patrick Idowu<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has intercepted a truck carrying 70,000 litres of stolen crude oil in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.<\/p>\n<p>NSCDC spokesperson Afolabi Babawale, in a statement on Monday, said the Commandant General\u2019s Special Intelligence Squad acted on an intelligence tip-off to prevent crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism in the Niger Delta.<\/p>\n<p>According to Babawale, operatives impounded a red-head, navy-blue container truck with registration number AGL574XY near Eleme flyover in Elelewon, Port Harcourt.<\/p>\n<p>The truck, fully loaded with illegally siphoned crude oil, was abandoned as its occupants fled upon sighting security operatives.<\/p>\n<p>He confirmed that the truck and its contents had been confiscated, while an investigation was underway to track those behind the illegal operation.<\/p>\n<p>Babawale stated that once the probe is completed, the NSCDC would seek the forfeiture of the truck and its contents, with proceeds from the sale remitted to the Proceeds of Crime Account.<\/p>\n<p>He assured that the corps remains committed to combating oil theft and bringing perpetrators to justice.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Patrick Idowu The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has intercepted a truck carrying 70,000 litres of stolen crude oil in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
