{"id":63417,"date":"2025-03-27T12:28:01","date_gmt":"2025-03-27T12:28:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=63417"},"modified":"2025-03-27T12:28:01","modified_gmt":"2025-03-27T12:28:01","slug":"court-dismisses-fraud-charges-against-zinox-chairman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/03\/27\/court-dismisses-fraud-charges-against-zinox-chairman\/","title":{"rendered":"Court Dismisses Fraud Charges Against Zinox Chairman"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Adenike Lawal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja has dismissed fraud charges against Leo Stan Ekeh, Chairman of Zinox Technologies, his wife Chioma Ekeh, and eleven others.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Akpan Okon Ebong ruled that the case was a \u201cgross abuse of court process\u201d and struck it out.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit, marked Suit No CR 985 2024, was filed in November 2024 by senior lawyer Femi Falana on behalf of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi.<\/p>\n<p>The case alleged that the defendants misappropriated over N162 million from a laptop supply contract with the Federal Inland Revenue Service, originally facilitated by Technology Distribution Limited on behalf of Citadel Oracle Concept Limited in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>However, in his ruling on March 20, 2025, Justice Ebong criticized Falana for expanding the list of defendants beyond those named in an earlier related case.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that although Falana had been granted permission to refile the case, it did not authorize him to alter the number of defendants.<\/p>\n<p>The judge also pointed out that no law enforcement agency had found any merit in the allegations, suggesting the case was more of a personal vendetta than a legitimate legal pursuit.<\/p>\n<p>With the case dismissed, legal experts say the ruling highlights the judiciary\u2019s commitment to preventing the misuse of legal processes for unwarranted litigation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Adenike Lawal A Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja has dismissed fraud charges against Leo Stan Ekeh, Chairman of Zinox Technologies, his wife Chioma Ekeh, and eleven others.
