{"id":63028,"date":"2025-03-19T12:47:49","date_gmt":"2025-03-19T12:47:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=63028"},"modified":"2025-03-19T12:47:49","modified_gmt":"2025-03-19T12:47:49","slug":"mohbads-father-challenges-dpps-decision-in-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/03\/19\/mohbads-father-challenges-dpps-decision-in-court\/","title":{"rendered":"Mohbad\u2019s Father Challenges DPP\u2019s Decision in Court"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Adenike Lawal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Aloba Joseph, father of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has taken legal action to challenge the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecution&#8217;s decision to release four key suspects linked to his son\u2019s death.<\/p>\n<p>Joseph filed an application at the Lagos High Court in Ikeja on March 12, 2025, seeking a judicial review to overturn the DPP\u2019s legal advice that led to the discharge of Naira Marley, Sam Larry, Prime Boy, and Opere Babatunde.<\/p>\n<p>Through his lawyer, Senior Advocate of Nigeria Wahab Shittu, Joseph argued that the DPP\u2019s decision undermines the ongoing Coroner\u2019s inquest into Mohbad\u2019s death, which was ruled unnatural and suspicious.<\/p>\n<p>He contends that the suspects were implicated in the proceedings but were released without due process.<\/p>\n<p>Joseph accused investigators and DPP officials of interfering with justice by failing to inform the Coroner\u2019s Court before issuing legal advice.<\/p>\n<p>He insists that allowing the decision to stand could compromise the inquest\u2019s outcome and deny his son justice.<\/p>\n<p>No judge has been assigned to the case, and a hearing date is yet to be set.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Adenike Lawal Aloba Joseph, father of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has taken legal action to challenge the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecution&#8217;s decision to release four key suspects linked to his son\u2019s death.
