Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has urged the National Judicial Council (NJC), to investigate Justice A.A. Aderibigbe of the Osun State High Court, Ilesa, over his ruling on the state&#8217;s local government elections.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Aderibigbe, on February 21, granted an order recognizing vacancies in all 30 local government areas and allowing the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC), to proceed with the February 22 elections.<\/p>\n<p>However, the ruling directly contradicted the Court of Appeal\u2019s decision reinstating APC-elected chairmen and councillors removed by the Governor Ademola Adeleke-led administration in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Oyintiloye, speaking with journalists in Osogbo on Monday, described the judge\u2019s decision as &#8220;questionable and unlawful,&#8221; arguing that a State High Court cannot override an appellate court judgment.<\/p>\n<p>He also questioned the procedural irregularities surrounding the ruling, including why the Osun Attorney-General announced the court order instead of the judge and why the affected APC officials were not part of the case.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe NJC must investigate Justice Aderibigbe to safeguard the judiciary\u2019s integrity and ensure that judicial hierarchy is respected,\u201d Oyintiloye said.<\/p>\n<p>He further criticized the Osun government for ignoring police intelligence warnings about security risks linked to the election, which led to loss of lives.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Gbenga Adeniyi A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon.
