{"id":62426,"date":"2025-03-09T15:31:59","date_gmt":"2025-03-09T15:31:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=62426"},"modified":"2025-03-09T15:31:59","modified_gmt":"2025-03-09T15:31:59","slug":"high-speed-chase-ends-in-crash-as-police-officer-injures","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/03\/09\/high-speed-chase-ends-in-crash-as-police-officer-injures\/","title":{"rendered":"High-Speed Chase Ends in Crash as Police Officer Injures"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Abaire Olanlesi<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A routine Police Patrol in Abuja turned into a high-speed chase and dramatic crash on Friday evening, leaving a police officer seriously injured.<\/p>\n<p>The incident unfolded around 6:00 p.m. along the Gwarinpa-Kubwa service lane when officers from the Crack Squad, led by ASP Segun Ozioma Edene, stopped a Toyota Venza (GWA 151 BM) and discovered suspected Indian hemp and other illicit drugs inside the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>However, the driver, 25-year-old Ahmed Abdul, defied orders to reposition his car and sped off with Inspector Raphael Oghalla still inside.<\/p>\n<p>A chaotic pursuit ensued before Abdul lost control and crashed into a gutter.<\/p>\n<p>While he escaped with minor injuries, Inspector Oghalla suffered serious chest wounds and is currently receiving treatment at the Police Clinic in Area 1, Garki.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities have impounded the vehicle, and Abdul remains in custody as investigations continue.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Abaire Olanlesi A routine Police Patrol in Abuja turned into a high-speed chase and dramatic crash on Friday evening, leaving a police officer seriously injured.
