{"id":62376,"date":"2025-03-09T11:53:07","date_gmt":"2025-03-09T11:53:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=62376"},"modified":"2025-03-09T12:00:59","modified_gmt":"2025-03-09T12:00:59","slug":"multiple-crashes-paralyze-traffic-on-lagos-ibadan-expressway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/03\/09\/multiple-crashes-paralyze-traffic-on-lagos-ibadan-expressway\/","title":{"rendered":"Multiple Crashes Paralyze Traffic on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Patrick Idowu\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Severe gridlock hit the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Sunday morning after multiple road accidents involving two trucks and several cars near the NASFAT roundabout.<\/p>\n<p>The crashes, which occurred around 7 a.m., caused chaos as one of the trailers, loaded with watermelons, lost control while trying to avoid a smaller vehicle, ramming into other cars.<\/p>\n<p>Emergency responders, including the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the Nigeria Police, rushed to the scene to manage traffic and assist victims.<\/p>\n<p>TRACE Deputy Commander for the Mowe-Ibafo axis, Mr. Kabir Ojerinde, confirmed that efforts were underway to clear the wreckage and restore normal traffic flow.<\/p>\n<p>While speeding and poor visibility are suspected causes, officials have yet to confirm the exact reason for the crashes.
