{"id":62119,"date":"2025-03-04T14:37:53","date_gmt":"2025-03-04T14:37:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=62119"},"modified":"2025-03-04T14:37:53","modified_gmt":"2025-03-04T14:37:53","slug":"lagos-government-urges-vehicle-owners-to-switch-to-cng","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/03\/04\/lagos-government-urges-vehicle-owners-to-switch-to-cng\/","title":{"rendered":"Lagos Government Urges Vehicle Owners to Switch to CNG"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Patrick Idowu<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Lagos Safety Commission has called on vehicle owners to embrace Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), as a safer and more cost-effective alternative to petrol and diesel.<\/p>\n<p>The commission made the appeal on Monday while launching a three-day training for Vehicle Inspection and Safety Commission Officers on the CNG initiative.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the event in Ikeja, Director General of the Safety Commission, Lanre Mojola, said the move aligns with the government&#8217;s clean energy transition strategy.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that Lagos had already adopted CNG buses and e-bikes, stressing the need to train officials to ensure road safety.<\/p>\n<p>Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Sesan Ogundeko, highlighted the benefits of CNG-powered vehicles, including lower transport costs, reduced carbon emissions, and improved air quality.<\/p>\n<p>However, he urged stakeholders to expand CNG refueling stations for wider accessibility.<\/p>\n<p>The event also had in attendance Gbenga Vaughan, representing the Director, Chief State Vehicle Inspection Officer, Akin-George Fashola, alongside other key officials.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Patrick Idowu The Lagos Safety Commission has called on vehicle owners to embrace Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), as a safer and more cost-effective alternative to petrol and diesel.
