{"id":62000,"date":"2025-03-03T05:04:22","date_gmt":"2025-03-03T05:04:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=62000"},"modified":"2025-03-03T05:04:22","modified_gmt":"2025-03-03T05:04:22","slug":"umahi-to-contractors-no-pay-without-work-on-abuja-kano-road","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/03\/03\/umahi-to-contractors-no-pay-without-work-on-abuja-kano-road\/","title":{"rendered":"Umahi to Contractors: No Pay Without Work on Abuja-Kano Road"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Ade Iyamoye<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has declared that contractors handling the Abuja-Kano Expressway must meet strict performance standards, warning that mobilisation payments will no longer be automatic.<\/p>\n<p>During a weekend inspection of the Zuba interchange, Umahi emphasized that contractors must demonstrate financial capacity and be on-site for at least 30 days before receiving funds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Procurement Act says mobilisation \u2018may\u2019 be paid, not \u2018must.\u2019 If you claim financial strength, start work immediately,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>The N252 billion project, scheduled for completion in 14 months, is set to begin reinforced concrete paving by mid-March.
