{"id":61808,"date":"2025-02-26T05:17:39","date_gmt":"2025-02-26T05:17:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=61808"},"modified":"2025-02-26T05:17:39","modified_gmt":"2025-02-26T05:17:39","slug":"tenant-allegedly-assaults-landlord-over-unpaid-rent-in-abuja","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/02\/26\/tenant-allegedly-assaults-landlord-over-unpaid-rent-in-abuja\/","title":{"rendered":"Tenant Allegedly Assaults Landlord Over Unpaid Rent in Abuja"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Samson Adeyanju<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A landlord-tenant dispute turned violent in Pegi community, Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), after a commercial driver, Musa Alhassan, allegedly assaulted his landlord, Samson Bako, for locking his room over unpaid rent.<\/p>\n<p>Witnesses say Alhassan, who had failed to pay rent for over a year despite multiple reminders, returned from work at night to find his room padlocked by the landlord.<\/p>\n<p>Frustrated, he confronted Bako\u2019s son, attempting to slap him, which escalated into a heated altercation with the landlord himself.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The landlord locked the room out of frustration when the tenant was at work,&#8221; said a resident, Ishaku Ayuba. &#8220;But when Alhassan returned, things got out of hand.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A local vigilante member, Joshua, confirmed the incident, stating that they were alerted by residents and had to intervene.
