In a groundbreaking move to advance specialized healthcare services, the Federal Government of Nigeria has commissioned the country\u2019s first non-surgical spinal decompression center in Abuja.<\/p>\n
The historic event, held on February 22, 2025, underscores the government\u2019s commitment to enhancing healthcare accessibility nationwide.<\/p>\n
The commissioning ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Pate, who was represented by Salaudeen Jimoh, Director of Hospital Services at the Ministry.<\/p>\n
Speaking on behalf of the ministry, Jimoh emphasized the significance of the initiative in strengthening Nigeria\u2019s healthcare infrastructure.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are proud to witness the realization of this vital project,\u201d Jimoh said. \u201cThis center reflects our commitment to expanding healthcare access and providing Nigerians with cutting-edge medical solutions.\u201d<\/p>\n
He also extended appreciation to all stakeholders involved, particularly acknowledging Dr. Craig Slapinski for bringing the initiative to Nigeria.<\/p>\n
The project aligns with President Bola Tinubu\u2019s Renewed Hope Agenda on Health, aimed at transforming the nation’s healthcare system through improved access and innovative treatments.<\/p>\n
Jimoh highlighted that the launch of the center comes at a critical time, offering relief to patients who have long lacked access to specialized spinal care within the country.<\/p>\n
Dr. Craig Slapinski, Clinical Director and co-founder of the Spine and Nerve Centre, expressed optimism about the center\u2019s impact.<\/p>\n
Noting the high demand for spinal decompression services, Slapinski revealed that many Nigerians previously sought treatment abroad, particularly in Ghana.<\/p>\n
\u201cBringing this facility to Nigeria is a game-changer,\u201d he remarked.\u201cIt offers patients non-surgical alternatives for managing chronic pain, reducing reliance on invasive procedures or long-term medication.\u201d<\/p>\n
He also praised the Nigerian government\u2019s support in facilitating licensing and regulatory approvals, which enabled the swift establishment of the center.<\/p>\n
Looking ahead, Slapinski disclosed plans for expansion within the next two years, aiming to meet growing patient demand and ensure more Nigerians benefit from advanced spinal care solutions.<\/p>\n
