{"id":61696,"date":"2025-02-22T19:20:00","date_gmt":"2025-02-22T19:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=61696"},"modified":"2025-02-22T19:20:00","modified_gmt":"2025-02-22T19:20:00","slug":"nipco-gas-converts-15000-vehicles-to-cng-secures-gas-licences","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/02\/22\/nipco-gas-converts-15000-vehicles-to-cng-secures-gas-licences\/","title":{"rendered":"NIPCO Gas Converts 15,000 Vehicles to CNG, Secures Gas Licences"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Ifeoluwa Odunayo<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a significant leap for Nigeria\u2019s clean energy drive, NIPCO Gas Limited has announced the successful conversion of 15,000 vehicles to run on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), and secured exclusive gas distribution licences from the Federal Government.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking in Lagos, Nagendra Verma, the company\u2019s Managing Director, revealed that the licences, issued by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), grant NIPCO Gas a 25-year exclusive distribution right across key regions, including Ibadan, Benin City, the Lekki Free Trade Zone, and the Kara-Sagamu-Abeokuta-Ibadan axis.<\/p>\n<p>In a bid to expand Nigeria\u2019s CNG infrastructure, the company has commissioned fueling stations across Lagos, Abuja, Edo, Delta, Ogun, Oyo, Kogi, and Akwa Ibom.<\/p>\n<p>A strategic partnership with NNPC Gas Marketing Limited has further bolstered gas supply to industrial hubs, particularly in Lekki and along the Lagos-Ibadan corridor.<\/p>\n<p>Verma also disclosed a new agreement with the Delta State Government for the construction of a CNG station and vehicle conversion workshop in Asaba.<\/p>\n<p>The state\u2019s allocation of land for the project marks a major milestone in advancing the Presidential CNG Initiative, aimed at promoting affordable, eco-friendly transportation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis collaboration with Delta State reflects our commitment to Nigeria\u2019s energy transition goals,\u201d Verma stated, emphasizing NIPCO Gas\u2019s role in driving economic growth through cleaner, more efficient energy solutions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Ifeoluwa Odunayo In a significant leap for Nigeria\u2019s clean energy drive, NIPCO Gas Limited has announced the successful conversion of 15,000 vehicles to run on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), and secured exclusive gas distribution licences from the Federal Government.
