EFCC Restitutes $132,362, N78.5m to Foreign Fraud Victims<\/p>\n
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has returned $132,362.43 and N78,566,324.81 to fraud victims from the US, Spain, and Switzerland, reaffirming Nigeria\u2019s commitment to combating financial crimes and ensuring justice for victims.<\/p>\n
EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede led the restitution ceremony at the agency\u2019s headquarters in Abuja, highlighting the Federal Government’s resolve under President Bola Tinubu to fight corruption and foster global cooperation.<\/p>\n
Recovered assets included cash, vehicles, and real estate. Representatives from the US, Spain, and Switzerland received the funds and assets on behalf of their citizens, praising Nigeria\u2019s efforts.<\/p>\n
The Spanish Acting Ambassador, Maria Higon Velasco, expressed gratitude for the collaboration, while Charles Smith from the FBI lauded the EFCC as a “global contender” in combating financial crimes.<\/p>\n
Swiss envoy Florent Geel commended the partnership, calling it a step toward a safer digital environment.<\/p>\n
The restitution is seen as a significant step in boosting Nigeria\u2019s international credibility and investor confidence.<\/p>\n
