Onanuga underscored the principle that the power should not be manipulated to settle personal disputes but rather should be harnessed for the collective progress and national interest.<\/p>\n
The Special Adviser conveyed disappointment in the labor leaders’ disregard for the court order and their apparent disrespect for the judiciary. Onanuga pointed out the historical irony of the labor movement, traditionally a defender of the rule of law, exhibiting a lack of regard for court orders. He questioned the motives behind the strike, hinting at a potential hidden agenda to cause undue hardship and civil disturbance in the country.<\/p>\n
The statement expressed bewilderment at the NLC and TUC’s decision to impose a nationwide strike affecting over 200 million people over a personal matter involving NLC President Joe Ajaero. Justice Benedict Bakwaph Kanyip, the President of the court, issued the restraining order following an ex-parte application before the court by the Federal Government.
