{"id":61590,"date":"2025-02-20T10:26:33","date_gmt":"2025-02-20T10:26:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=61590"},"modified":"2025-02-20T10:26:33","modified_gmt":"2025-02-20T10:26:33","slug":"fg-dismisses-lagos-abuja-bullet-train-claims-demands-public-apology","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/02\/20\/fg-dismisses-lagos-abuja-bullet-train-claims-demands-public-apology\/","title":{"rendered":"FG Dismisses Lagos-Abuja Bullet Train Claims, Demands Public Apology"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Ifeoluwa Odunayo<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Federal Government has categorically denied reports suggesting that the Lagos-Abuja High-Speed Bullet Train project is underway, calling the claims &#8220;false and misleading.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In a strongly worded statement on February 19, 2025, the Federal Ministry of Transportation dismissed assertions made by Engineer Yinka Idris, Director of Operations at Geofocus Consortium, who was quoted in a recent report as saying feasibility studies had been completed and funding secured for the ambitious rail project.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Ministry, Geofocus Consortium initially submitted an unsolicited proposal in 2016 and later presented an Outline Business Case (OBC) to the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>However, the company has failed to provide the required proof of funds, making any claims of government approval baseless.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe approval process for such a project is rigorous.
