Former federal lawmaker, Ben Murray-Bruce, has expressed disapproval of the indefinite strike declared by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC).<\/p>\n
Murray-Bruce emphasized that embarking on a nationwide strike, particularly based on a singular incident that is already under investigation, is not in the best interest of Nigeria.<\/p>\n
\u201cA nationwide strike now because of an isolated incident in just one state that is already being addressed is not in Nigeria\u2019s interest,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
While acknowledging the importance of addressing grievances, Murray-Bruce cautioned against using a national strike as a tool to settle personal scores, stressing that it could have adverse effects on the nation’s interest.<\/p>\n
He emphasized that power should be wielded responsibly to promote economic and democratic progress rather than settling personal disputes.<\/p>\n
\u201cI call on the Nigerian Labour Congress to be rational and put the national interest first and let peace reign,\u201d wrote Murray-Bruce.<\/p>\n
